Pila Update June 2025
Welcome, welcome! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind, and we couldn’t be more excited to share our progress with you.
An update from the Studio
Our engineering team has been moving fast while staying laser focused — we’re making rapid progress toward mass production ramp later this year.
From rigorous power system testing to energy modeling to mobile app development, the team has been hard at work. Here’s a preview of our custom-designed touchscreen, designed so even the non-technical user will clearly understand what’s going on in stressful outages and can engage with insights day-to-day.
Follow along with us on our newly launched blog for more updates from the team. Check it out →
🏆 HardTech Award Winner
Pila’s a winner! Pila Founder Cole Ashman was honored to receive a HardTech Award in Vancouver, BC last month from renowned design firm MistyWest. The HardTech Awards recognize engineers, designers, and visionaries who are driving impact through hardware innovation. Congrats, Cole!
🎙️ Hardware to Save a Planet Podcast
This month, Dylan Garrett hosted Pila’s CEO & Founder on the air. The focus of their conversation? How the Pila battery, when distributed at scale, can help stabilize the grid by turning homes into virtual power plants (VPPs).
💡 From The Cool Down:
“ The Cool Down caught up with Pila's founder, Cole Ashman — an engineer who worked on Tesla's Powerwall and SPAN's Smart Electrical Panel before this — to learn what makes these batteries such a simple, money-saving upgrade for homeowners and renters alike. “
⚙️ Demos & Drinks
We hosted our first Demos & Drinks event with our friends at Quilt and Impulse for SF Climate Week, and are looking forward to hosting more. Watch this space for future opportunities to hang out with the founding team and check out our hardware!
