We’re looking for a hands-on, creative, and strategic leader to drive Pila’s visibility across media, influencers, and cultural moments.
About the Role
The way people discover brands is shifting—traditional media is shrinking, influencers are rising, and cultural moments define narratives more than press releases ever could.
We need a Brand & Engagement Lead who gets this shift and can lead us through it. Someone who isn’t just thinking big-picture but is also getting their hands dirty—crafting pitches, running media outreach, coordinating influencer partnerships, and putting together compelling demo experiences that make Pila unmissable.
This role is about making Pila a brand people talk about, write about, and want to experience. You’ll drive Pila’s earned and paid media strategy, influencer collaborations, and storytelling efforts while also rolling up your sleeves to execute launches, build relationships, and create high-touch brand moments.
What You’ll Do
Own Pila’s media strategy – Manage all earned and paid media efforts across traditional press, podcasts, influencers, and content creators.
Be hands-on with storytelling & pitching – Actively write pitches, secure media placements, and develop story angles that get Pila noticed.
Develop hands-on brand experiences – Work on compelling demo experiences that bring Pila to life—whether at events, in content, or through creative partnerships.
Build long-term media relationships – Develop strong ties with reporters, writers, and editors so Pila has a go-to network for news and launches.
Shape our influencer & creator partnerships – Identify and collaborate with high-impact creators who align with Pila’s mission and aesthetics.
Navigate the future of media – Stay ahead of shifts in journalism, digital platforms, and content ecosystems, ensuring Pila is always visible where culture is moving.
Create and oversee media campaigns – Manage paid placements, influencer partnerships, and high-impact storytelling efforts across multiple platforms.
Work cross-functionally – Collaborate with our design, creative, and product teams to ensure our brand is cohesive and compelling across all media.
Pitch in across day-to-day business and operations – Be ready to jump into projects beyond brand and media, working alongside the broader team to help where needed as we scale.
What We’re Looking For
A modern media strategist who executes – You understand both traditional PR and the evolving media landscape and are just as comfortable crafting a pitch as you are managing a brand campaign.
A natural relationship-builder – You know how to build trust with reporters, influencers, and partners, ensuring they see Pila as a brand worth covering.
Deep understanding of brand storytelling – You know how to craft narratives that don’t just sell a product but create cultural relevance.
Experience managing earned and paid media – From securing high-impact press to running podcast sponsorships and influencer partnerships, you know how to make every media dollar count.
Hands-on and adaptable – You’re excited to personally execute ideas, jump into projects last minute, and be a key player in getting Pila in front of people.
Creative and strategic thinking – You don’t just follow media trends—you anticipate them and put Pila at the forefront.
Ability to launch and scale media efforts – You’re scrappy enough to start small and strategic enough to scale as Pila grows.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and hands-on leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and knows how to make a brand resonate with people. The ideal candidate will have:
5+ years of experience in brand marketing, PR, media, influencer partnerships, or a related field—ideally within a startup, consumer brand, media company, or agency.
A track record of securing media coverage and building relationships with journalists, influencers, and content creators. Experience working directly with press, podcasts, and emerging media is a plus.
Experience leading brand storytelling, product launches, or cultural activations—you know how to make a brand feel alive beyond just ads and press releases.
Hands-on experience managing both earned and paid media—from pitching top-tier publications to negotiating influencer partnerships and podcast sponsorships.
A strong grasp of the evolving media landscape—you understand the decline of traditional newsrooms, the rise of independent creators, and how to navigate this shift for maximum impact.
Experience executing events, activations, or product demos—whether it’s an in-person brand experience, media event, or grassroots marketing push.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with creative teams, product teams, and external partners to bring brand stories to life.
Exceptional writing and communication skills—you know how to craft compelling narratives, whether in a pitch, press release, or social copy.
Entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability—you’re comfortable in a fast-paced startup, wearing multiple hats, and jumping in wherever needed.
A passion for culture, design, and storytelling—you instinctively know what makes people engage with a brand and can translate that into action.
